Domien Ingels (1881 - 1946, Flandre, Belgique ) est peintre et un des grands sculpteurs belge de la période Art Déco. Il est connu pour ses figures animalières expressionnistes. Son sujet de prédilection est le cheval de trait mais il s’intéressa aux animaux de basse-cour, aux chiens et aux animaux de cirque qu’il modelait avec brio.
Fils de boucher, il connaissait bien l'anatomie de nombreux animaux.
De 1900 à 1941, il devint professeur adjoint et enseigne le dessin et la sculpture à l’ l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Gand. Il partage un atelier au Béguinage de Gand avec son ami C. Permeke (1886-1952).

Domien Ingels (1881 - 1946, Flanders, Belgium) was a painter and one of the great Belgian sculptors of the Art Deco period. He is known for his expressionist animal figures. His favorite subject is the draft horse but he was interested in farmyard animals, dogs and circus animals which he modeled brilliantly.
Son of a butcher, he knew the anatomy of many animals well.
From 1900 to 1941 he became assistant professor and taught drawing and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. He shared a workshop at the Beguinage in Ghent with his friend C. Permeke (1886-1952).
